Hi I'm probably not the first one to ask for a free oscilloscope. I'm from Pol= and and here oscilloscopes are rare and expensive. I'm keen to learn electr= onics and I just can't continue without an oscilloscope in my lab. I obviou= sly can't afford one. So, to all engineers out there : if someone has an oscilloscope leftover an= d would like to donate it I would gladly accept it. I can...

Hi all, I've started designing a 200 MSPS Oscilloscope with a 25 MHz analog bandwidth, 3Ksample/channel buffer. The oscilloscope can be connected to a PC via USB, and eventually via Ethernet and WiFi. The trigger is ( at moment) rising, falling... auto, normal. I would appreciate suggestions and or comment for possible improvement and functionality that could make this oscilloscope interes...

Dear Group, I can finally afford a new oscilloscope to supplement my trusty TEK 465M. My budget is around $3k. I like the newer Agilent scopes, which I have used when someone else was paying. I do mostly low frequency high-precision instruments (analog signals less than about 1 MHz). The pretty lower-end Agilent scopes are in reach, but I'm tempted to use one of these: ...

Gentlemen, I'm just trying a number of combinations of L and C to find the right values for resonance at around 1.35Mhz. The problem I'm having is that the resonance point is far from clear. It's as if the Q of the components is very low (even though they actually aren't). I'm trying to think of a way to make it more 'peaky' on the oscilloscope display to take the guess work out of ...

A guy clearing out his deceased father-in-law's basement let me have an HP 1722A oscilloscope. It powers up, and responds to signals. I haven't tested all the functions, but the basic stuff works. I'm thinking of selling it. How much is a working 1722A worth?

Hi, I have been using an GW Instek SFG-2110 and find that the TTL output has a fast rise time. It is about 2 ns and this could be useful for oscilloscope bandwidth measurements for instruments of less than 100 MHz. The TTL option seems to be missing on more expensive function generators. Any thoughts?

As far as I know, using an oscilloscope for drones, I have absolutely no use for the BL's logic analyzer. But it looks like the inclusion of a logic analyzer is a huge value. Another concern with the BE is that apparently it is discontinued. Looks ike most of the problems people have with those two oscilloscopes are caused by their inability to use a PC. Just to check my understandi...

I got one of those. Today, I tried to set up two oscilloscope probes. (the frequency compensation capacitor) I noticed the following things in bitscope-dso: when adjusting the cap, the waveshape doesn't change, but the amplitude does. at 250kHz it's almost triangles regardless of capacitor setting. 50kHz looks acceptable. I am also not sure what sort of filter it has and how to turn i...

Gentlemen, In the PSU section of that old Tek oscilloscope I've been troubleshooting, I discovered several transistors had died. One of these is puzzling me somewhat. It's a 2N5859 which they're using to drive one of those big ol' TO-3 power transistors for the -15V output section. I can't understand why they chose a fast switching device with a GBP of 250Mhz. This being a linear PSU, ...

Hi guys, As most peple here are likely aware, if you examine the coax cable for a passive oscilloscope probe you find that the inner conductor is made of a highly resistive wire -- something like nichrome, and around 50-200ohms per meter. I've recently gotten hold of a Tektronix 7633 oscilloscope but can't seem to get a trace or any kind of waveform on the crt. Was wondering if I'm doing something wrong , not doing something right , or is the scope in need of repair? Is the repair complex ( I know my way around a soldering iron ) or should I just sell it for parts. It came with three plug-ins : Dual trace amplifie
