OT: Durham: Why Christopher Steele has come out of the woodwork

Started by John Doe October 19, 2021
To pass the time...

Christopher Steele had not given an interview in ages. Now with the Durham
probe producing indictments, he's been flushed out of the woodwork while
claiming the Durham probe is not the cause. His sudden appearance and his
denial of the reason for that appearance is contradictory.

Besides that... Difficult to understand why the guy denies corrections to
his "Steele dossier" that are now obvious to everybody except those with
severe Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Here's one article, a possible motive/explanation for that. I have read it
once so far...

If John Doe has read it once, it has been designed to appeal to his particular point of view. It doesn't say much. https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2018/03/12/christopher-steele-the-man-behind-the-trump-dossier was a rather more impressive piece of work - the New Yorker has access to much better reporters than the Conservative Daily Post, and doesn't tell them what to write. What Steele heard about Trump's antics - and contacts - in Moscow, struck him as deeply worrying, and he felt an obligation to pass it on to the FBI. As the New Yorker piece points out, the Clinton campaign didn't know that that had happened, and would have exploited it if they had. That makes hard to see it as a Clinton-driven anti-Trump conspiracy, if you aren't an egomaniac like Trump. -- Bill Sloman, Sydney

Bozo Bill, a chronic liar, cannot be reasoned with. When you refute its
lies, it simply makes up more lies to cover its prior lies. Its fiction
never ends.

"The reason for their presence wasn't immediately clear."

If NBC knew the likely reason, they wouldn't have reported on it.

The guy that one day earlier apparently predicted that raid might be
entirely correct, but the FBI might try spinning it into something else.
Power tends to corrupt. How long can the BIG LIES continue...

The cannibal left is all reporting the associations of the FBI raided
Russian oligarch with Vladimir Putin and Paul Manafort. You must dig deep
to find out about his employment of Christopher Steele!

https://abc7ny.com/fbi-russia-politics-nyc/11143979/

"Deripaska also had ties to Paul Manafort"

And on the very same page is a byline about Christopher Steele and his
media-cherished POS dossier with no mention of the fact Christopher Steele
was employed by the very same FBI raided oligarch!

Our media is shit.

Not that John Doe has ever bothered to try.

Since John doe just snipped what I'd posted - without any attempting to refute any of it - this is actually a lie. He's never tried to "refute" anything that I've ever posted. It doesn't seem to be in his skill set. https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2018/03/12/christopher-steele-the-man-behind-the-trump-dossier Let's see him try to refute that - just snipping it without comment falls a long way short of "refutation". -- Bill Sloman, Sydney

"Employed"? John Doe has a very odd idea of what constitutes "employment". Even the Conservative Daily Post qualified this claim as "at least Deripaska was paying Chris Steele for some type of work in the U.K."
> Our media is shit.
It doesn't make the kinds mistakes that John Doe makes all the time, and he thinks that they ought to be equally incompetent, and in the direction that favours his bizarre dieas.

Donald Trump was sea-green incorruptible when he became president, and power didn't make him any worse - there wasn't any part of his performance that could have got any worse. He lied nonstop while he was president, and he is still lying.

Where is the "contradiction"? John Doe has all sorts of silly ideas, which seem to come down to Donald Trump's egomaniac enthusiasm for thinking that everything is about him. The real interesting question is what the Russians were doing for Donald Trump - which turns out to have been quite a lot - and the reason they were doing it, which seems to be that they understood what a destructive creep Donald Trump really was, and what a truly terrible president he'd turn out to be if the Americans were silly enough to be manipulated into electing him.

The corrections may be plausible, but spies are in the business of creating plausible alibis. Steele was a spy for quite a while, and the critics lack that particular skill.
> >>> Here's one article, a possible motive/explanation for that. I have read it once so far...
And not understood it all all

The opening sentence is "Christopher Steele was a foreign agent who deliberately interfered in the 2016 election on behalf of the deep state," Christopher Steel had stopped being an intelligence agent long before he put together the Steel dossier. He was a foreign contractor at that stage. He didn't do it on behalf of any "deep state". He was working for Orbis Business Intelligence which was a small firm that he had set up with a partner after he had retired from being spy. They were acting as a subcontractor working for Fusion GPS, a private research firm in Washington. Fusion, in turn, had been contracted by a law firm, Perkins Coie, which represented both Hillary Clinton’s Presidential campaign and the Democratic National Committee. There's no "deep state" there, and accepting an intelligence gathering job isn't any kind of "deliberate interference". What John Doe needs to understand is that the Conservative Daily Post has put together a fairy story designed to appeal to his particular sort of conspiracy theory addict who can be sucked in by spurious references to the non-existent deep state. -- Bill Sloman, Sydney
