Colorado woman to no longer receive kidney transplant after not getting COVID-19 vaccine

Started by Fred Bloggs October 9, 2021
A Colorado woman will no longer be receiving a kidney transplant after she confirmed that she would not be getting the COVID-19 vaccine, violating the hospital system UCHealth's vaccination protocol,

"One broad study found kidney transplant patients who contracted COVID-19 had a 21% mortality rate. Other studies found mortality rates ranging from 18% to 32% for transplant recipients who acquired COVID-19. For comparison, the CDC says the current mortality rate for everyone who has tested positive is 1.6%," Weaver said in a statement. "This is why it is essential that both the recipient and the living donor be vaccinated and take other precautions prior to undergoing transplant surgery."

The ignorant woman and her ilk actually believe fetal tissue cells were used to develop if not manufacture the vaccines. Has no concept of a "cell line" of clones. Just goes to show the disadvantages of lacking a high school education.

The type of person who thinks the "NO DIVING" sign at the shallow end of the swimming pool is fascism. Stupid sign, you're not the boss of me.

Some people believe that abortion is murder. That's a moral position, not ignorance. Do they teach otherwise in high school? How do you know she didn't finish high school? -- Father Brown's figure remained quite dark and still; but in that instant he had lost his head. His head was always most valuable when he had lost it.

"Pride" isn't the issue. The issue is whether or not someone with a low likelihood of "being a good home" for that organ (which are in short supply) should receive it -- despite her taking steps to maximize its utility -- instead of someone else who is actually *trying* to provide a long term home for it.

My cousin was put very low on the list of organ recipients because he made the mistake of saying he didn't need a support network, he was self reliant. He never got the organ he needed. There are many, many things we don't have "rights" to in this society. Often we like to think we have unlimited freedoms, but we are actually very limited. Mostly those limitations are things we agree with, but sometimes there are particular limitations we don't agree with. Some people then feel their "rights" are being trampled and act out. Others realize we can't all live together without compromise with one another and accept the limitations or work to change them productively. Or maybe people are just scared by a global pandemic and this is how society acts out in response. -- Rick C. - Get 1,000 miles of free Supercharging - Tesla referral code - https://ts.la/richard11209

This has nothing to do with abortion. Some of the vaccines used clones of aborted fetal cells in testing or development, not in the vaccines. If you apply that reasoning universally you would not use acetaminophen, albuterol, aspirin, ibuprofen, Tylenol, Pepto Bismol, Tums, Lipitor, Senokot, Motrin, Maalox, Ex-Lax, Benadryl, Sudafed, Preparation H, Claritin, Prilosec, Zoloft, some Nestle products, vaccines for chicken pox, rubella, and shingles, the list goes on. Do the people who object to Covid vaccines on this basis also object to using these other products? -- Rick C. + Get 1,000 miles of free Supercharging + Tesla referral code - https://ts.la/richard11209

The reality is that just about everything called a medication was at one point in its development using these cell lines: https://www.webmd.com/vaccines/covid-19-vaccine/news/20210918/some-medications-also-tied-to-religious-vaccine-exemption

It's not discrimination, it's science. Organ transplants are a lot of trouble, so if the patient has something going on that makes the effort a waste of time, they're removed from eligibility. Unless they have a lot of money, smokers are ineligible for heart transplants, and probably lung transplants.
