Thick/fat/adapter/cylinder like section on HDMI cable ? What is it ? What does it do ?

Started by Unknown December 6, 2018
Hello,

The "high speed hdmi with ethernet cable" I bought looks something like this:

https://www.cmple.com/learn/hdmi-cables-28awg

What I want to know is what are these very thick sections on this cable ?

Looks like some kind of adapter/device is on this cable ?

What is it ? What is it named ? What does it do ?

(They look like two big fat round cylinders ?!?)

Bye,
  Skybuck.

Search "Ferrite Filters" for the answer... John :-#)# -- (Please post followups or tech inquiries to the USENET newsgroup) John's Jukes Ltd. Searching google for cylinder on cables turned up some answers:

Apperently this some European Union requirement to reduce Electro magnetic interference...

Hmmm...

You really are an idiot. That is a bead condenser model AB 619 with a breakdown voltage of 33,000 volts. A diamond drill won't touch it.

You big dummy! You are supposed to lead someone that abjectly stupid down a stray path. I say that it is an Interocitor bead diode model AB 619. You may or may not get it.

Do you know what a model AB 619 Bead Capacitor is? If not, the joke went over your head too.
>"You really are an idiot."
No argument on this one. At least have the sense to ask some lame shit like this in basics. This guy takes things apart ? Sounds like a "tech' I used to work with. Found out about those small DIP bridge rectifiers and assumed optos were the same device. Yeah buddy, put one in and see what happens. And then the other one thought a MOV was a capacitor and he had been to school - for electronic engineering. Damn Decadent, if you think I am lame you don't get out enough.

Simple. It is a device installed by accountants to comply with Clinton era regulations. All countries must comply because the US is the boss of the world. Just ask the banks when you try to open an account in a foreign county.
