Mouser has a variety of Wiznet serial->Ethernet adapters

that look interesting, but I wonder if anyone has used them.

What do you expect to *get* from their use?

I've used the WIZ820IO with Teensy 3.2 (NXP k20 series) to send UDP packets. Cannot do PING with it as no driver exists for that function with Teensy. Arduino has it though and there are examples for doing web server with it too. There is a gotcha with the RESET pin on the 820 as it must be asserted during initialization. There is an 850 version that does not have that restriction. There are notes in the Teensy forum at PJRC.com regarding the use of said devices with Teensy. Probably some info in the Arduino forum as well but I no longer lurk there. As with all things software controlled YMMV, love 2 hate and all that stuff.

We need a UTP port on a <http://www.digital-loggers.com/plchw.html> and we've looked at Lantronix XPorts as well as Wiznet. Now I'm wondering about a switcher to get us 3.3v@400 ma from 13.8v. Any suggestions? -- A host is a host from coast to coast.................wb8foz@nrk.com & no one will talk to a host that's close.......................... Either roll your own with an NS/TI chip or look on Digi-Key. CUI and several others make drop in 3-terminal sw regs all in one 0.5 x 0.5 x 0.8 (approx) potted block. Add two 10uF caps and a 33uH inductor in a pi filter to keep the radiated noise down. Probably another $10.00.

I've used the Microchip enj interface, I think thats around 500ma. Wound up using a LM2575 off a 24vdc input. You'll do better at 13.8v Cheers
