Pressing the door button of my commercial wireless door bell causes the mains-powered speaker unit in the hall to chime. Rather than buying another speaker unit I thought I'd make a simple extension myself. I'd then get an identical chime in my workshop. With difficulty I was able to get access inside the unit and connected a couple of wires in parallel with its tiny speaker, like this: ...

Not being able to find a small internet radio to buy we liked, we got mobile phone with which we link with wi-fi to a modem router, and use it as an internet radio. Keeping the phoned plugged into its charger all the time, we are using it to play *all-day* background classical music through an amplifier and speakers. Since the phone has no 'moving parts' unlike a computer, we are wonde...

My tape recorder is probably 30-40 years old. It plays 4-track tapes. Twenty or so years ago, I had it tuned up. I recently stumbled onto it in a closet and realized that I have some old tapes that I recorded family moments on, and it might be wise to convert them to digital. I set it up a few weeks ago with a PA amp with speakers I have, and found that it more or less worked on a comme...

Thanks to all those who replied to my last questions about my old SX-434. I have done everything advised except actually powering it up. I have decided to power it up slowly by using my nice isolated output Staco variable transformer. I do not as yet have speakers for the thing and will be looking for some used ones. Besides being 8 ohms what should I look for? I have always bought speakers a...

What is it? :: http://oi62.tinypic.com/28u69on.jpg It?s adjacent to a 3.5 mm jack on the back of a 24? LCD monitor. The documentation doesn?t call out this connector.? It *almost* looks like an audio connector symbol except for the arrow-thing. No audio coming out of it; I plugged in amplified speakers and? nothing.? Ideas? Thanks, Dave

I bought some Inland Pro Sound 2000 speakers from a thrift store. It is an amplified system putting out about 7 watts. They sound pretty poor. I remember making my own 8 ohm speakers years ago using a woofer, midrange, tweeter, and a cross-over network. Can I do that also with this system? Thanks.

I would like to add a sub-woofer to my home theater system. My system calls for speakers in the 6 -> 16 ohm range. When I searched Ebay, I found some speakers, but found out that they need a crossover. My system has an output for a subwoofer. Could someone show me a link to something for sale or else the specs I need to look for? Thanks, Andy
