I wish to drive it with a PIC that has LCD module built-in but I have seen that all PICs capable to drive LCD have only 4 commons. I supposed that was needed 1 common for each digit but probably I have to use bias plus multiplex. In this case how can I do? I have not found any application notes ...

I would like to turn off a supply when the light level drops below a certain point. I have 5VDC and the circut (LCD) requires 5VDC, so I cant waste too much power in the on/off circuit. Sofar I have tried with a LM311 comparator and a phototransistor, but that dosent work with the lcd (it keeps running even when gnd is disconnected). How would you solve the problem ? /Jan
