According to a reference the 2N3055 is good for 5.8 watts without a heatsin= k at 25c ambient temp, and the case temp rise is 30 degrees per watt. So, i= f ambient is 44C and power is 2 watts, case temp should be 104C, or boiling= point of water. Any problem doing this, or should a heat sink be used?

I have a 4500 watt generator that is for emergency use. When it was new I checked the output with an oscilloscope just to see how pure the sine wave was and how close to 60 Hz it was. Well, the main sine wave looked good and the frequency was very close to 60 Hz. It floated around a little as the load changed but then would stabilize very close to 60Hz. However, there were lots of other small...

I got a Boonton 92EA off Ebay and it worked fine, I left it on overnight and now it doesn't work. I found the 15 volt regulator has no output. The part is obsolete, I did find one cheap $4 but with a $25 minimum order. The Regulator is a 4 pin 78MGCP. I want to replace it with a plain old 7815. I don't see anything special about the 78MGCP that would prevent that. Anyone see why I shou...

Examination of a full model of the whole circuit revealed that the parallel input resistance would actually go negative somewhere around 1MHz, exactly where dependent on source resistance. I got interested, and finished up doing a rework, addressing: Negative input resistance. Gain not unity, as claimed. Actually 4dB. Output operating point nowhere near Vcc/2, hence reduced output sw...

I'm going to be using ULN2803APG in a design of mine, and I just noticed on the datasheet [1] that Vce(sat) typ is 1.3 at 350ma. Does that mean that the voltage drop across the Vce will typically be 1.3 at that current? Or does that mean the voltage for Vbe needs to be that high to have saturation? [1]

Is it possible to multiply resistors to turn a 10k Pot into a 100k Pot. Breakdown of what I'm trying to do: Got an RC car for my sister(she is handicapped) and its hard for her to hold the pistol transmitter, so what I was trying to do is remove the wires to the 100k Pots for acceleration and turning, and wire it into the two pots on a joystick. The only joysticks I've found have 2x 10k pots. ...

Anyone know whether this is a thinly disguised MC34063? Its definitely a switcher of some sort. Thanks.
