Hi there - I was thinking about trying to design a laser driver over
the weekend. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a spice model for a
laser diode, putting a bit of a squabash on that plan.
Anybody know where I can find one? Ideally I'd find one for a very
normal ~5mw red laser diode - like...

A laser telemeter is an instrument for measuring distance.
Using a laser telemeter to measure distance is called laser telemetry.

Hi people,
I have an 1992 Synrad laser. I need a PWM controller to set the
intensity. I'd like something that has an input that can be controlled
by a pin on the Parallel port of a computer, but will be happy with a
manual control that I can set for intensity.

What is it about laser printers that causes UPS manufacturers to recommend
they not be powered by a "stepped approximation to sine" UPS? It's a SMSP,
isn't it? What makes it special such that it needs sine-only? No such caution
re. computers, etc...
Thanks.

Many people in the European laser show industry, where audience
scanning is allowed, (if you watch your MPE levels), can tell you that
a lot of CCD and DLP devices can be damaged by focused visible laser
powers as low as 50 mW. I've personally nuked vidicons with 5 mw
633 nm light, when well...

Maybe the speed at the outer sides is to high for the laser !
