Wrong packaged diode

djj08230 - 2010-02-07 06:17:00
Hello all, A board we produce has a battery that power a static RAM through a diode. This is a SMD package, maybe a SMA, but can't say for sure right now. We have had a few problems with the battery circuit, that I know have been solved changing the diode. I have seen only one of those m...Wrong packaged diode

Diode + Diode Zener and Inductive load

Bicio - 2008-05-21 07:52:00
I know that inserting a normal diode in parallel to a inductor is usefull for preventing voltage spikes when the current drop to zero (for example due to a transistor). So, with a diode, the inductor discharge itself with a time constant of L/R. With a Zener in series to a diode, the inductor d...Diode + Diode Zener and Inductive load

Flyback output diode peak curent vs average current

Mook Johnson - 2008-07-03 12:12:00
In a DCM flyback with its high peak to average current ratio. When sizing a diode do you rate thediode for the maximum peak current. I have a 2A average current with 12A peaks at the start of the flyback. Repeats every 5uS. Which current rating should I look for in the diode? 3A? 6A? 15...Flyback output diode peak curent vs average current

LT Spice ideal diode

John Larkin - 2010-04-04 11:02:00
I recall somewhere, maybe in this ng, the procedure for making an ideal diode in LT Spice. But I can't find it now. Help! The ideal diode should be a stock pulldown part. I wonder why it's not. And why can't I change the voltage of one of their pull-from-the-list zeners? That would sure...LT Spice ideal diode

PAD5

John Larkin - 2009-05-01 18:11:00
I just got some samples of a Vishay PAD5 picoamp-leakage diode, in SOT23. Pin 3 to pin 1 ohms as a diode Pin 3 to pin 2 ohms as a diode Pin 1 to pin 2 ohms as an 8K resistor. Next project is to actually measure the forward and reverse curves, down to pA levels. Nice part, except...PAD5

pn junction diode

Lax - 2008-01-10 14:14:00
Say we have a silcon pn junction (diode) - i.e., a block of p-type on left, attached to a block of n-type semiconductor on right: anode ------[ p | n ]------ cathode Because of diffusion we get a barrier potention at the junction, which makes the n-side/cathode 0.7V higher than t...pn junction diode

Anybody seen a spice model for a laser diode?

Michael - 2008-01-26 08:29:00
Hi there - I was thinking about trying to design a laser driver over the weekend. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a spice model for a laser diode, putting a bit of a squabash on that plan. Anybody know where I can find one? Ideally I'd find one for a very normal ~5mw red laser diode - like...Anybody seen a spice model for a laser diode?

Diode vs TVS

Vladimir Vassilevsky - 2009-09-14 22:38:00
I tested the basic reverse polarity protection circuit: 12V battery, 100A fuse, diode. If the TVS (1.5SMC24AT3) is used, it gets destroyed into the short circuit. The fuse is blown, of course; but the device is damaged. This happens at the very first attempt. However if the trivial 1N54...Diode vs TVS

Fast zener diode substitute

How pin diode works?

2008-02-02 05:11:00
