Problem with Relatives watching Excessive TV their Addicts?
Despite the obvious solutions,
Is there an electronic mini tv remote control that will jam the tv
either switch it off ,switch over or mute it?
so that it will appear faulty intermitently I have tried mini
commercial remote controls but they have NOT work for our Sony TV just
the Phillips TV (line of sight)it does NOT work at an angle and I am
NOT talking a severe angle here:)
Any electrical diagrams I could follow and pay to have them assembled
professionally or would this be a prohibitively high price to do same?
I am sure there be commercial demand for a product like this.
see http://www.familysafemedia.com/
TV B Gone http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/tv/196209_tvbegone21.html
these ONLY work in the USA NOT Europe could these be adapted in any
way?
Regards,
Heidi

This sounds like a problem better taken care of by a sociologist rather
than a prank electronics gadget. Try to get assistance with a family
counselor. Check the Yellow pages. It won't hurt to ask for someone's
professional advice. Maybe the church you attend could offer some
direction in this situation.
If you still want to do some underhanded dirty electronics seek out
information about an "Ouidin coil". They produce very annoying and
strong radio frequency interference. They are high voltage but are less
dangerous than other types of HV equipment. When operating the coil
don't get it too near any electronics, it can permenantly destroy
ordinary TVs, radios, computers, etc. in this way.
If the coil won't take care of the problem keep it to show the family
counselor when you visit. You might get some creative ideas on how to
use it in other devious projects. <g>
Look on the bright side: TV addiction isn't as bad as Heroin, booze or
Internet porn addiction, I think.

Nah, just bitch and whine and piss and moan at them until you drive
them from the room, then turn it to whatever you wanted to watch
instead; then, be prepared to put up with them bitching and whining
and pissing and moaning at you for awhile, until you leave the room,
and so on.
Or, buy another TV for your room.
Or, pull out the plug.
Good Luck!

Addiction isn't in the object - it's in the person.
And I believe the term is WAY overused - nowadays, it means "He insists
on doing something that he likes, but I don't like him doing, because I'm
trying to convince myself that I'm superiour[SIC]."
Cheers!

Rich, believe it or not, some people don't listen to TV; or don't want
to.

You could jam the remote control receiver with a string of IR LEDs
driven by a 38-40KHz oscillator. It'd be less work to simply break the
TV though. Pouring a coke into the back of it works well.
