Thanks for that quick response. It looks good to me. But what do I know. I'l try it and see. I don't think my IDE has a Sim. I've only just been experimenting with pic's for about a week and am still finding my feet. Thanks again. ...Re: I need to PIC your knowledge. Please read.

ATX power supply to drive a 12V DC motor?

MK - 2007-01-05 08:36:00
Hi, I have a 12V DC motor (6A under load). The only power supplies I have around here are ATX. Someone at an electronics shop told me they can be used to supply the power, but I didn't ask how. Is it just a matter of using an IDE connector to power the motor? Regards, Michael ...ATX power supply to drive a 12V DC motor?

I'd consider looking into the Arduino Diecimilia board. I teach a robotics class in the Boston area built around this board, and many people I know use it extensively. Here are the advantages: 1. It's open source, so there's lots of development happening around it, and it's popularity is growi...Re: Where to start with microcontrollers?

Can IC`s which run hot last longer if heatsinks are glued onto IC`s when new ?

TE Chea - 2006-08-30 09:47:00
I found every hdd ( Seagate, Maxtor ) has at least 1 IC far hotter than other IC`s. I glue hsinks onto these hot IC`s, to cool them : 1 ata33 Seagate hdd already works noticeably faster, after I glue a hsink onto its hottest IC. In 12-03 I glued a hsink onto a nVidia nForce 2 south bridge (...Can IC`s which run hot last longer if heatsinks are glued onto IC`s when new ?
