Hi all - Walter's daughter, Rose, here. Sphere is still up and running and, as noted, liquidation remains the goal, particularly now that dad has passed. If you're interested in anything, have a look at the Sphere Research websites, new and old:

or email Susan Shawlee at susan@okanagan.net Thank you for spreading the word!

It's rarely the lack of a big truck, sufficient funds, etc. that
discourages such acquisitions.
In a more practical sense, it's having a place to store the stuff
and time to sort through it all (unless you just want to dump it in
an unheated space and let folks pick through it -- in person or virtually)
[I periodically fill the SUV to the headliner for a few dollars and spend
the next two weeks trying to sort through everything to determine how *little*
I would want to devote time and space to retaining! (it's been several
weeks since my last such "acquisition" and I'm still not done sorting and
evaluating!) Then, reload the SUV and haul the discards off for recycling...]

A number of us here, I'm sure, have used Sphere's web site (located in
Kamloops BC) for either finding odd test gear or parts to fix same. Or
nixie tubes and other odds and ends...

Unfortunately the owner (Walter Shawlee II) has to shut the site down
and liquidate all inventory due to illness - a sad day indeed!
So if you have a big truck, I suggest driving to Kamloops and make an offer!
